Coming home
starts here.
For people returning from jail or prison in Houston: a safe place to land, mental health support, and real help rebuilding a life, one step at a time.
We don't define anyone by their past.
Coming home is hard. Housing, IDs, benefits, appointments and supervision conditions all land at once, often while you're also managing your mental health.
We help carry that weight. Our team works with you, and with your officer and care team when you choose, to turn release day into a real beginning.

Everything you need for the first steps home.
Housing & placement
A room in our personal care home, with long-term, short-term and transitional stays, or help finding the right placement.

ID & documents
Help replacing a Texas ID, birth certificate and Social Security card, the keys to everything else.

Straight answers.
Will my criminal record keep me from getting help?
We review every referral individually. A past record does not automatically rule anyone out. We look at your needs, your goals and whether our services and home are the right fit for you right now.
Is this a halfway house?
No. The Serenity Passage is a community-based mental health provider and personal care home, not a correctional facility. Residents have rights, privacy and a real say in their care.
Do I need Medicaid?
HCBS-AMH services are funded through Texas Medicaid. If you aren't enrolled yet, we can help you apply or reinstate coverage after release. Call us to talk through your situation.
Can my parole or probation officer make the referral?
Yes. We welcome referrals from parole and probation officers, jail and prison reentry coordinators, and discharge planners. With your written consent, we can coordinate with your officer to help you stay on track with your conditions.
How early should we reach out before release?
As early as possible. Reaching out before a release date gives us time to plan placement, services and first appointments, so you're not starting from zero on day one.
Your next
chapter starts now.
Whether release is next week or next month, reach out today and we'll start planning together.
